Glitter (EP)

Highlight Tracks: Somebody Like Me, Mirrors, Stranger

We’ve been asleep, guys! But it’s okay because New Jersey rapping-vocalist 070 Shake (hailing from the 070 crew) is here to wake everyone up! In 2016, Shake signed to the G.O.O.D. Music label and just recently, she was featured on Kanye West’s latest album, Ye, on the standout track “Ghost Town.” Quick spoiler alert: she’s fucking dope.

070 Shake apologetically opens up her March EP, Glitter, telling the world her story in the raw and gritty track, “I Laugh When I’m With Friends But Sad When I’m Alone.” Her honest, yet powerful lyrics make you feel as if you are listening to her read a page from her diary as Shake dives into some of the battles she’s faced on her rise. With no slowing down, Shake boastfully flaunts and floats over a bass-bumping beat in the braggadocious, “Somebody Like Me,” featuring fellow crew mate, 070 Phi. She then shakes things up with “Lost In Love,” as Shake bounces through wiry, yet jaunty production, singing about the perils of love and desire.

On the slick and enchanting track, “Mirrors,” Shake effortlessly glides across the song’s wondrous soundscape, crooning punchy melodies and incredibly pairing them with her breezy, although, heartfelt harmonies. On the highlight track, “Stranger,” Shake flawlessly creeps into a bold and bouncy beat as to which she displays her cadence, performing acrobatic-like vocals while she flexes her overall steez. Shake soon closes with the titular track, “Glitter,” beautifully pondering her past through a bout of introspection and a catchy as hell chorus.

Shake and the 070 squad are definitely ones to watch out for in 2018.
